Programme
Details
From
1 December 2004, many of our software products would be tagged
with a value, called the “Exchange Value (EV)”. This
is the amount you may redeem when you “trade-in” the
product previously acquired from the Software Exchange group of
companies, within a designated period of time (the “Redemption
Period”). You may use the EV as a form of credit for future
purchases or convert it into cash.
The
current redemption period is three
(3) years, and the base-EV rate is 15%.
This means that you shall receive no less than
15% of the value you have invested in your software, should you
sell it back to us within 3 years from the day it was purchased.
EV
of some products could be as high as 50%, depending
on their life cycle and popularity at the time of redemption.
For example, if you were to acquire a Microsoft Windows Server
2003 Standard Edition 5-Client from us at S$1,800 today, a guaranteed
amount of S$900 will be given to you when you sell the
same software back to us within the next three years, provided
of course, there is no succeeding version then and the software
is in good demand. Notwithstanding, you will always have the 15%
EV to fall back on. Click here
to view EV rates that would apply to back versions.
If
a newer version of the software I have acquired is released, does
your 15% offer still stands?
When
we say guarantee, we mean GUARANTEE. If the software you have
acquired is replaced by a newer version, we will peg your EV to
this newer version, and its subsequent releases. You see, value
of most software products increases over time. By docking EV with
the most current version, your investment is further protected,
and enhanced. To illustrate, an Adobe Acrobat 5.0 in 2002 costs
about USD255, while its v6.0 counterpart in 2004 - USD300. By
pegging the EV to v6.0 (instead of 5), your return is higher.

And now,
the good news.
The
three-year Guaranteed Buy-Back Programme is offered free-of-charge,
together with the much celebrated Customer
Care Programme, to customers of Software Exchange.
If
you wish to extend the redemption period
to five (5) years, you may
subscribe to Buy-Back Plus,
by topping up with an additional 3%
of the software
sale price. Tell us
about your interest in enrolling for
the Buy-Back Plus before you acquire
the product of your choice.
How does the Guaranteed
Buy-Back Programme work?
When You Acquire Product from Software
Exchange
1. Check for the presence of a sticker label. The purpose of this
label is to help you quickly identify products qualified for the
GBP/GBP Plus.
2. After installing the software on your
computer, remember to pack all the contents,
e.g. installation disk, end-user licence
agreement, user’s manual, registration
card, etc. back into the box.
3. Keep your software products in a safe
place as they are now your assets – and
have an Exchange Value!
When You Wish to Exercise your Buy-Back
1. Contact us
regarding your desire to “trade-in” your
software product, and provide us the “Buy-Back
ID”. The ID may be found on the
sticker label explained earlier. We would
then inform you of its EV.
2. Ensure you completely remove the product
you are offering from your system before
presenting it to us.
3. For certain products, documentation
may be required for submission to the
respective manufacturer for transfer
approval. Once the transfer is approved,
payment shall be disbursed to you immediately.
4. In general, it should take less than
60 days to complete the buy-back process.
